What to allow
Encourage AI for drafting, brainstorming, summarising public information, and writing code you’ll review. These uses rarely touch sensitive data and can be a real productivity win. Where possible, prefer business-tier accounts that don’t train on your inputs.
What to lock down
Draw a clear line around customer data, credentials, source code you can’t expose, and anything covered by a contract or regulation. Set a simple written policy, choose approved tools, and turn off training on your data where the setting exists. Clear rules beat a blanket ban that just pushes usage underground.
